Bird Brain

"Fill in the Gaps" Challenge - (Amy)

Clearly, my memory is hazy: A model was necessary to remind me what Mockingbirds look like (see the "Mock Dove" directly below). In any case, I agree that this was a useful and revealing exercise!

"Fill in the Gaps"-Lindsay

What a great exercise. It made me realize how little I know of horse anatomy. I mean seriously, what are those critters supposed to be? Even after I studied the reference photo (second image), my memory took over in the third and confused the actual construcion of the face again. I found that I tend to shorten proportions, and make fatter what should be thin, and what's thin, fatter. I'll be trying this with other images as well...

Weekly Challenge - May 15th

The Challenge for this Week is: "Fill in the Gaps"

No, not that kind of gap.

There we go.

Step 1: Choose something to draw.

Step 2: Draw it from memory,

Step 3: Draw it again, this time using a reference- either real life or a photograph.

Step 4: Draw it one more time, from memory, and see how much you've filled in the gaps!

Step 5: Post all three pictures on the blog. :)
